Following delays in appointing the next national team coach, the Korean Football Association has rescheduled its October friendly matches. On October 4th, South Korea will host Venezuela at Goyang with a matchday kicking off the week followed by another contest against Uzbekistan on October 12th in Gimje.
While no official announcement of the new coach has been made yet, the association’s vice-president stated that these fixed matches serve as a part of the current coaching selection process. They are also meant to give players and staff valuable training and psychological preparation time.
Should a new head coach be officially announced in due course, South Korea could adjust scheduled fixtures for November and March A-matches or hold additional friendlies during this interim period. Nevertheless, these upcoming matches provide excellent testing ground and a means of reviewing candidates under different competitive circumstances before making final decisions.
