The South Korea national football team played against Czech Republic on June 12th at the Guadalajara Stadium in Mexico, winning 2-1 in the A-group preliminary round. According to reporter Park Sung-won, this win gave the South Korea national football team a lot of hope. However, they lost 0-1 to Mexico on June 19th. Citizens supported the team, saying “It's disappointing, but they fought well.” The World Cup has brought the country together. On June 19th, citizens gathered at the Gwanghwamun Plaza in Seoul, cheering for the South Korea national football team. About 20,000 people, mostly wearing red clothes and devil horns, came to support the team. Despite the hot weather, with temperatures reaching 34 degrees, citizens persevered and cheered for the team. One citizen said, “I came here with my child to make memories,” and another said, “I hope our support will help the team advance to the round of 16.” Although the team lost to Mexico, no one expressed anger or frustration. Some citizens even congratulated Mexican fans on their win. Football is bringing people together, uniting them as one. The South Korea national football team will play against South Africa on June 25th at 10am in the final match of the A-group preliminary round.
