South Korea's Lee Han-beom has vowed to shut down South Africa's pace and individual flair through disciplined, organized defending in the 2026 North America World Cup. Lee Han-beom said at a press conference at Estadio Universitario in San Nicolas, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, 'We'll watch the space behind us.'
Preparing for South Africa
Lee Han-beom said the team's defensive shape has been sharpening with each match. 'We're getting more solid defensively. If we prepare just as well for South Africa, we'll be able to keep them out,' he said.
Three-Back System
Lee Han-beom has formed a three-back line alongside Kim Min-jae of Bayern Munich and Lee Ki-hyeok of Gangwon. 'We talk a lot among ourselves, and I think it's clicking well with Min-jae at the center,' he said.
Aiming for a Win
Lee Han-beom said the squad has no intention of settling for a draw. 'None of the players are thinking about a draw — we're thinking only about winning,' he said. 'I want to make clear we're not taking anything for granted. Our goal is to win, move up as high as we can, and bring happiness to the people of Korea.'
